About this SITE

This site is a labour of love, initiated by Sitegeist and Communication by Design, in cooperation with Karen Needham of The Spencer Entomological Museum at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada.

Sitegeist essentially tricked C-by-D into getting excited about the Museum, and then together we tricked Karen into getting excited about the website. Sue and Marian of Communication by Design spent a number of delightful hours carefully and respectfully perusing the Museum and photographing many of the insects there.
Together, they conceived the site plan and came up with many fabulous ideas for directions it could take in the future. C-by-D then did the graphics and the layouts and started building the pages. Sitegeist got together with Karen, and started working out the copy and the organization of the pages.
We hope the site will continue to grow. Some of the areas we hope to cover in the future are:
Careers in Entomology
The Insect Popularity Contest
Heads Bodies and Legs
Medical Entomology: The Bugs on You

We welcome your comments and suggestions on the site, so please e-mail us! (Please include "Insecta" in the subject header).

Unfortunately, Sitegeist & Communication by Design are only Web builders, not experts on insects, and Karen and the Museum do not have the resources to handle questions you might have on insects in particular or in general. However, if you yourself are an Entomologist and you want to give us a hand, please write and maybe we can one day set up a Q&A page. That would be really great!
